CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

  1. The ride is open to all with no restrictons subject to condion 10 and that horses and ponies must be 4 years old and upwards.
  2. The course comprises woodland tracks and grass gallops.  Riding across or along the inside areas of the gallops is not permitted and will lead to disqualification.  All obstacles are optional and any one (or several) may be omitted.  The majority of obstacles will be around 2' high (1'6" in the minimus course) and there will be alternative jumps of a more testing nature for the experienced rider, 3' to 3'6" in height.  There will be no elimination for refusal and each rider is allowed three attempts at each obstacle.  After the third refusal the obstacle must be omitted and no further attempts will be permitted.  Failure to carry out instructions of the course stewards may lead to disqualification.  Competitors may drop out on route, but must notify the nearest steward if they do so.
  3. Awards: 
    * Gold rosettes will be awarded to riders who successfully complete the course and have jumped 25 obstacles.
    * The competitor who has attained their 16th birthday on the day of the ride will receive a Challenge Cup to be held for one year and a similar cup will be awarded in the under 16 age group.
    *  The competition who has attained their 16th birthday who in the opinion of the judge is the best turned out will receive a challenge cup to be held for one year.  A similar cup will be awarded to te rider who is under 16 years of age.
    *  A special award may be awarded to a rider, or group or riders, who in the opinion of the Committee have performed particularly well in the interests of the ride.
    *  A completion certificate will be awarded to all riers on receipt of sponsor money which should be sent to the Treasurer by 14th November 2007.
  4. All riders must wear hard hats of PAS 015 or BSEN 1385 standard and body protectors.  You will not be permitted to ride unless you do so.
  5. Dogs must be kept on leads at all times.
  6. The decision of the Committee on any matter is final.
  7. The Organising Committee, the owners of Great Westwood Equestrian Park, The Watford Lions Club and the benefitting charities accept no liability for any damage, injury or illness to any person, horse, pony or property, however caused.
  8. On receipt of the entry form, competitors will be allocated and notified of the starting time and their entry number.  On arrival at the start, please report at once to the Secretary's test and deposit your sponsor form (to be collected at the end) and collect your number.  Late arrivals may have to wait until the starter can accept them.  Refreshments, marquee and tack shop on site.
  9. The entry fee of £3 is to be sent with the entry form for each horse entered.  Non-returnable in the event of a cancellation.
  10. Sponsors
    Each competitor must find their own sponsors (these can be any number) and collect from them a guarantee to pay you so much per jump.  The total of these individual sponsored amounts must come to a minimum of 60p per obstacle (i.e. £15 total).  Most competitors will exceed this amount.  It must be stressed to all potential sponsors that the whole of the proceeds will go to charity.
    The object of the Ride is, through your enjoyment, to raise money for charity and so all competitors are urged to make a great effort to get as many sponsors as possible and so help achieve a worthwhile total.
